Hate crimes, DNA exonerations, pardons, to expungements, and the use of the death penalty are just some of continuing criminal law issues front and center in the news. At the last of our 5 breakout panels, we will introduce you to the public-interest careers and pro bono opportunities in this often gut-wrenching field of law. The Criminal Law & Death Penalty Panel takes place on Thursday, July 23 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm ET. A Zoom link will be sent to all registrants the day before the panel.
Our expert panel includes:
- Brandi Harden, Partner at Harden & Pinckney, Attorneys at Law
- Callie Heller, ABA Death Penalty Representation Project
- Daniel Levin, Partner at White & Case LLP
- Bridgette Stumpf, Executive Director of Network for Victim Recovery of DC
- Liz Wieser, Deputy Attorney General, Public Safety at the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia
The conversation will be moderated by Stephon Woods, Assistant Attorney General at the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia.
The Summer Forum is open to Washington Council of Lawyers members (join), participants in summer associate and summer intern programs, lawyers in law firms, government and public-interest organizations, and others interested in learning more about incorporating public-interest law into their practice.
One registration gives you access to all six sessions (keynote and five breakout panels). The recordings for all six sessions will be available to registrants later in the summer. You may register at any time before July 23 and receive access to all Summer Forum sessions.
