Racial Justice Series: Community Policing & Engagement (2017)

  • When: 16 March 2017, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
  • Where: Hogan Lovells (555 13th Street NW)
  • Cost: $10 WCL Members / WBA Members / Law Students - $20 General Public

At the next installment of our Racial Justice Series, we’ll discuss best practices in community policing and how we can help improve it. Learn from police and criminal justice experts about the intersection of race and policing, national trends and initiatives, and local policing practices right here in the District of Columbia.

We’ll be joined by an expert panel, including:

  • Laurie Robinson, Co-chair of President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing & Criminology professor at George Mason University Law School;
  • Commander Jacob Kishter, Director, Metropolitan Police Academy; and
  • Alicia Yass, Legal Counsel, District of Columbia Office of Police Complaints.

Our moderator will be Nkechi Taifa, Advocacy Director for Criminal Justice at the Open Society Foundations.

After the discussion, we’ll have Q&A and serve light refreshments.

This event is cosponsored by the Diversity Committee of the Women’s Bar Association of DC. And extra thanks to Hogan Lovells for hosting this discussion.
