Get Involved

Joining one of our committees is a great way to get involved in our day-to-day work. Virtually all of our events, programs, and communication is handled by our committees. Committees are open to members and non-members alike. If you’d like to learn more or join one of these committees, please contact our Executive Director, Christina Jackson.

Advocacy

Our Advocacy Committee develops policy positions to advance access to justice and then advocates those positions. Past activities have included testimony before the D.C. Council, research, public education, briefings, and amicus briefs.

Communications

Our Communications Committee publicizes all of our events, programs, and initiatives. We work primarily through digital and social media, using writing, photography, graphics, video — and more. Sometimes members of this committee talk too much.

Membership

Our Membership Committee works both to expand our membership and improve the experience of existing members. The committee oversees our community-building events. This committee is always looking for new … members.

Pro Bono/Public Interest

The Pro Bono/Public Interest Committee plans many of our events, including our Litigation Skills Series, Best Practices in Pro Bono Series, Racial Justice Series, and many, many others. The committee also organizes DC Pro Bono Week. Needless to say, everyone enjoys volunteering their time.

Special Events/Fundraising

Our Special Events & Fundraising Committee leads our fundraising. The committee also organizes our Summer Forum and annual Awards Ceremony. Without this committee, we couldn’t afford to keep our lights on.
