DC Pro Bono Week 2015 got started on Monday, October 26, wtih Advancing Social Justice Through Pro Bono and Advocacy Work. Roughly 30 law school students from schools around the DC area gathered at Steptoe & Johnson for a panel organized by law schools at Catholic University of America, Georgetown University, American University, George Washington University, and Howard University.
The panel featured lawyers and legal professionals from different interest fields, career paths, and backgrounds. The featured panelists were: Jayesh Rathod (AU Immigration Justice Clinic), Antonia K. Fasanelli (Homeless Persons Representation Project), Jasmyn Richardson (Advancement Project), Eily Raman (Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project), and Doug Quzak (Arnold & Porter). Law students were exposed to information and career paths related to immigration/immigration rights, homelessness and veterans affairs, voting rights, wrongful convictions, and racial discrimination and criminal justice.
