Enrollment for the 2022 Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll is Now Open!
Recognizing the vital role that private and government attorneys play in providing pro bono services to those who cannot afford counsel, the Chief Judges of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the Superior Court of the District of Columbia are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the annual Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll. Supported by the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center and the D.C. Access to Justice Commission, the Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll pays tribute to the thousands of D.C. Bar members and attorneys practicing under D.C. Court of Appeals Rule 49 who provide desperately needed free legal services to those living in poverty and to the disadvantaged small businesses and community-based non-profits that are critical to the economic well-being of our community. Participating attorneys will be recognized on the Courts’ website and elsewhere. The FINAL submission deadline is Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
To register for the Honor Roll, attorneys must simply submit a declaration indicating that they have provided 50 hours of pro bono work or more – or 100 hours or more for the High Honor Roll – in 2022. Attorneys may submit applications online.
We recommend that individual attorneys employed by large firms/organizations check to see if the firm/organization is intending to submit a bulk list on behalf of its employees. If not, individual attorneys are welcome and encouraged to submit an individual declaration.
If you have any questions about the website or the list itself, contact Reece Flexner. If you have questions about whether or not your pro bono work qualifies you to be on the list, contact Margaret Emery.
