Please join us in welcoming Emily Herter as our 2026 Summer Intern.

Emily is a rising senior from North Carolina attending East Carolina University, where she is pursuing dual majors in Political Science and Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), with a minor in Economics and a pre-law concentration. This summer, she is participating in The Fund for American Studies Academic Internship Program, completing coursework in Economic Problems and Public Policies while interning with the Washington Council of Lawyers.

At ECU, Emily serves as a Learning Assistant for economics courses, is the Vice President of the Security Studies Club, and has assisted faculty members with research projects submitted for publication. Emily plans to pursue a career in law and is particularly interested in public interest and immigration law. She is excited to learn more about pro bono advocacy and access to justice through her work with WCL.
