Welcome Our New Program Director, Chris Marin!

Join us in welcoming Chris Marin as our new Program Director. Chris is a recent graduate of the American University, Washington College of Law, where they cultivated a passion for access to justice and finding innovative connections between legal professionals to advance the work of pro bono and the public-interest community.

“I am excited to work with such an amazing and diverse Board of Directors as well as our many community partners to find new ways to help legal professionals get involved in pro bono and public-interest work,” said Chris. “It is a crucial time to support advocates making a difference for our neighbors, and it’s an honor to support folks in uplifting our community.”

During law school, Chris served as a student attorney with the Entrepreneurship Law Clinic providing legal services to small businesses in the community. After graduation, they continued working with the clinic as a business operations and communications consultant. In that position, they assisted small businesses in navigating business structure filings while also helping them create programs and promotional materials that communicate their unique business activities mindful of the organization’s legal status. Previously, Chris received their Bachelor of Arts from Bryant University where they double-majored in economics and psychology, and minored in finance. At all levels of their education, Chris has been actively involved in diversity initiatives, creating programs to uplift members of the LGBTQ+ community and increase awareness of LGBTQ+ issues as the President of Bryant Pride and Executive Director of the Lambda Law Society.

Chris brings a combination of legal training as well as programming and communications experience that will help the growing Washington Council of Lawyers team ensure the legal system treats everyone fairly, regardless of money, position, or power.
