Calling All Mentors! Or those who want to be.
We’re looking for experienced lawyers (four years or more of practice) from non-profits, government agencies, or law firms. You don’t have to currently be practicing to be a mentor, nor do you have to have experience in any particular practice area. If you fit this description and are interested in getting to know a new public-interest lawyer, please join us as a mentor this year.
If you have been a mentor before, we welcome your participation again this year. If you have not been a part of the mentoring program before, this is a great time to get started.
As a mentor, you’ll be expected to connect with your mentee at least once a month from September 2024 to May 2025. This contact can be at a Mentoring Program event or other in-person meeting, or via video chat, phone, or email. All mentors are expected to attend our Program Kickoff in September, where you’ll meet your mentee; a Speed Mentoring event in November, where you’ll get a chance to meet all the mentees; and the program-end event in May 2025 where members of the mentee class will get a chance to talk to you and the other mentors. We hope that you will also be able to volunteer with our end-of-year activity and attend the spring Lunch & Learn and Happy Hour.
If you’re interested, please complete the Mentor Interest Form by Friday, July 19. We will use this information to help us match you with a mentee, and we’ll share your biography with other program participants.
Thank you, and if you have any questions please email us at mentoring@wclawyers.org.
